CR Overview

ENRC strives to act as a good corporate citizen and maintain a good social contract with its employees and with the communities in which it operates.  In addition, the health and safety of the Group's employees and the maintenance of high environmental performance standards are high priorities.

We intend to pursue appropriate investment opportunities to supplement and improve the Group's environmental, health and safety programs.  ENRC's anticipated projects include the investment of approximately US$21 million in environmental improvement programmes for the Group's Ferroalloy Division.

ENRC's Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Committee of its Board of Directors (the 'HSE Committee') is responsible for formulating and recommending to the Board a policy on health, safety and environment issues and is focused on ongoing compliance with applicable standards to ensure that an effective system of health and safety standards, procedures and practices is in place at each of the Group's operations.

In 2003 we initiated a phased implementation of formal management systems for some operations, including ISO 14001 environmental management systems, ISO 9001 quality management systems and OHSAS 18001 safety management systems.

The Group is the first enterprise in Kazakhstan to implement an environmental management system certified for ISO 14001 and is also the first enterprise among the CIS mining industries to receive OHSAS 18001 certifications at several of the Group's facilities.
